Here’s the cliff notes version:
1. Andrew and I found out we were expecting a baby this year! 🎀
2. We got engaged 💍
3. I planned a wedding in 3 months 👏
4. We got married on February 27, 2016 in beautiful Bluffton, SC.
5. I decided it’s finally time to come back to blogging 😆
So now I’ll start from the beginning, with all the details.
On Saturday, November 14th, I decided to go get my hair cut and chopped 10 inches off. I wanted to cut all the color off as well as let my hair grow the following year until my sisters wedding in 2017. That same day, I decided to take a pregnancy test just because I was having some “symtpoms” and wanted to be sure. Fast forward to a couple hours later, and you would find Andrew and I sitting on the bathroom floor holding 2 positive pregnancy tests. We had so many emotions running through us; we were scared, excited, shocked, happy, nervous, you name it, we felt it. Yes, the news of our sweet P came as a surprise, but then again who is ever really “ready” to have a child. All that mattered was that we loved each other more than anything and that from that moment on, our number one priority was our baby.
On the morning of Friday, November 20th, I received a text from Andrew asking if I wanted to go to the top of the Rockefellar Center because Groupon was selling tickets. Of course I said yes because it’s one of those touristy New York things I had yet to scratch off my NY bucket list, and we had no other plans. So after work that night, we walked to the Rockefellar Center and waited around until it was our time slot to go. Mind you, I had no idea what was about to happen. Most of you might think, “how didn’t you know!?” But honestly, I just thought he was helping me scratch off a bucket list item.
So we finally make our way to the top and he suggests we go to the less crowded deck above us, which I happily say yes to because I wanted to get some good pictures. As I take my camera out to begin taking pictures of the Empire State Building, I hear him say, “Brittany, I actually brought you up here to ask you something.” Or something along those lines, I’m not sure because for the next 3-5 minutes I blacked out. He’s on one knee holding my hand saying the sweetest most loving things, and all I can manage to get out is “shut up!” Embarrassing, I know, but I was so excited/surprised that I had no idea what to say. Finally, he asks me if I’ll marry him and I say yes a million times. There are no words to describe the feeling you feel at this moment in your life!
Let the wedding planning begin!
Now fast forward to February 27, 2016.
It’s our wedding day, and we’re at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, SC. It’s sunny, around 65 degrees and by far the most beautiful day. I couldn’t have hoped for anything more perfect. We were surrounded by 120 of our closest friends and family for the entire day before we were sent off under a beautiful sky of sparklers.
Now that I’ve caught you up on the past 4 months of my life, I plan to keep you posted with everything marriage, fashion and baby related going on in my life. It won’t always be the prettiest, but it sure will be an exciting journey!
